Don’t have the time or effort to to spend two hours with screaming teens to watch The Twilight Saga: New Moon at your local multiplex? Jack Douglas has seen the film, and has created an abbreviated version (just over one minute to be exact) so that you don’t have to suffer and endure a film in which, according to Jack, literally nothing happens. Jack writes:
Now the movie itself is very pretty, the acting’s fine, the soundtrack didn’t piss me off, and the special effects are convincing. However, they don’t distract me from the fact that the plot doesn’t exist.
Watch the one minute version of New Moon after the jump, followed by Jack’s recap of the non existant plot of the film.
Here is Jack’s recap of the plot points for Twilight: New Moon:
- Edward leaves Bella after NOTHING HAPPENS at a party.
- Bella spends a good third of the film wallowing in her misery instead of getting the hell over it.
- Bella helps Jacob rebuild old motorcycles while NOTHING HAPPENS.
- Bella leads Jacob on but NOTHING HAPPENS.
- Edward almost kills himself BUT THEN DOESN’T.
- Edward gets in a fight with the Volturi but IS THEN FORGIVEN.
- Edward and Jacob make some kind of pact, THEN JACOB LEAVES.
- Edward asks for Bella’s hand in marriage, THEN THE CREDITS ROLL.

Twilight fans don’t know anything about vampires or vampire movies… So Skyler Stone decided to stage a Twilight intervention in Los Angeles. Twilight fans show up to what they think is the red carpet premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon only to discover that they are not going to be seeing Twilight, but instead will be forced into a vampire intervention. Watch the video after the jump.

This video clip of filmmaker Kevin Smith was shot at San Diego Comic-Con 2009. It’s not new, but it has been making the rounds this weekend due to the huge box office success of the Twilight sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon. And yes, we’ve featured it on the site before, but it might have been passed over during the madness that was Comic Con… so… why not? In the clip, embedded after the jump, Smith makes the argument that we should encourage and celebrate Twilight fandom, “because in six years, they’ll be eighteen year old girls who like vampires… don’t poo poo it because there is a plan, and it’s working!” Hard to argue against. Lets just hope they grow to like better written and more interesting geek books/comics/films…

While it did break midnight and opening day records, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was unable to beat The Dark Knight’s huge opening weekend record, despite being the highest opening weekend of 2009.

The Summit Entertainment sequel took in an estimated $140.7 million domestically over the three day weekend, about $18 million shy of Batman’s record $158 million, and even shy of Spider-Man 3’s $151.1 million. New Moon will probably beat the life-time domestic theatrical gross of Twilight by the end of the week.
New Moon’s worldwide total is $258.8 million, the seventh highest worldwide opening of all time, behind Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Spider-Man 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Summit Entertainment has announced that The Twilight Saga: New Moon has broken box office records, earning over $26.27 million in midnight screenings from 3,514 theaters. This destroys the $22.2 million midnight record held by Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, and the previous second place, Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, which earned $18.4 million in midnight earnings. Also, Summit’s re-release of the original Twilight on Thursday night on 2,057 screens resulted in $1.3 million in ticket sales.
But the real question is, what will New Moon’s numbers look like at the end of the weekend?
Here is a round up of predictions from the Box Office prognosticators around the web:
- Box Office Psychics: $114M
- Lee’s Movie Info: $111M
- Box Office.com: $110M
- Box Office Mojo (Derby): $98.4M

With The Twilight Saga: New Moon set to hit theaters this week, it seems like a lot of celebrities have been getting into the New Moon parody business. After the jump you will find videos featuring Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Martha Macisaac (Becca from Superbad), Aubrey Plaza (Funny People, Mystery Team) and Conan O’Brien.
Conan O’Brien wonders if the scenes between the werewolves are just a little too sexy.
Aubrey Plaza stars in Twilight: Three Wolf Moon: ” 100% passion. 100% danger. 100% cotton.”
Brandon Routh and Martha Macisaac star in Twilight Cycles: “Don’t let that time interfere with your relationship with your vampire boyfriend.”

The Twilight Saga: New Moon hasn’t even hit theaters yet, and as far as I can tell, hasn’t had many advance screenings, yet the sequel has already been voted on by over 1,700 users on the Internet Movie Database. While over 46% of users have given the film a 10 out of 10, more than 44% of users have given the movie a 1 out of 10. What’s the rating? 4.5. Of course it seems more like a turf war battle of the sexes than a real sample of user opinions.
The funniest thing about the rankings is the demographics behind the votes The average Male user rating is a 3.3, while the average female user rating is an 8.0. And while females under 18 rate the film a 8.7, the most popular demo is the “Twilight Mom”, females aged 30-44, which have given the film an average rating of a 9.9. Wow… Full graphs after the jump.

Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards saw the debut of a brand new trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon to the delight of Twilight fans everywhere. Hit the jump to check out the trailer, and as always, leave your thoughts in the comments below.
This new trailer gives us a little bit more storyline than previous trailers, as we learn about Edward’s plan to take off, and Jacob’s subsequent attempt to pick up Bella on the rebound. We catch glimpses of Dakota Fanning as Jane, a Volturi guard, and Michael Sheen as Aro, the head of the Volturi, an Italian vampire coven that enforces the vampire laws. Both of them look good in their respective roles, and I hope they were paid well for their time here.
We also see the absolutely-terrifying ghost-Edward, and Bella deciding to become an adrenaline junkie by jumping off cliffs or something. The trailer closes with a fight scene that is strongly reminiscent of the boss battle at the end of Blade 2 [Note: For those of you wondering about the trailer music, it's from the movie trailer for Jumper]. But most importantly throughout, we get to see lots of boys with their shirts off! Taylor Lautner! Robert Pattinson! The Wolf Pack! Trailer mission = accomplished. Here’s Summit’s synopsis:
In NEW MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.
I have to say that even though I didn’t enjoy Twilight very much, this trailer compares favorably to the first film’s in that stuff is actually happening. Perhaps Weitz’s direction combined with a stable of talented actors might get me to give this film a shot? Probably not, but it’s nice to think about sometimes….
I know that /Film’s audience isn’t exactly the target audience for the film, so to put things in perspective, here are videos of some fans reacting to the trailer. Arguably, they are more entertaining than the trailer itself:
