Dr. Love on a recent visit to USC.
Film students from the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) created Public Service Announcements (PSA) for the newly launched campaign Army of Women driven by the AVON Foundation for Women and its partner the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. The campaign's goal is to help find breast cancer's cause by empowering people to participate in research opportunities.

Fifty students split equally between SCA and New York University's Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film & Television, submitted proposals to the Love/AVON challenge. With a budget of five thousand dollars, four films were produced. Two films from each university are left to compete for a chance to motivate millions of people to take the next step and sign up for the Army of Women.

Walk in the Park

Courtney Thomas
"The pink bricks are a metaphor for the foundation that each woman can make for the future. I want to show that although we all have busy lives, contributing to the cause is as easy as a walk in the park."

One Million Strong
Brent McHenry & Nick Wenger
"It's about... literally stepping up to the frontline of the battle against this terrible disease... While using the powerful and appropriate metaphor of pink bras, women assemble a chain that brings them together across the globe."

The Grand Prize winner will receive an Apple Final Cut Studio Package and the opportunity to meet with the Senior Vice President of Production at New Regency Productions.

To vote for your favorite PSA, log onto Glamour.com. Voting starts, Friday, Sept. 25.

In 1993, the University of Southern California made it a priority and its responsibility to enhance the quality of life in the neighborhoods surrounding the University Park and Health Science campuses with its Good Neighbors Campaign (GNC). Employees of the University of Southern California have more than embraced this commitment and have created a tradition of giving through the annual GNC.

In 2008, our GNC reached $1.1 Million. The monetary goal, for 2009, is $1,2 million.

In all of the previous campaigns, from 1995-2008, USC has raised over $10 million. One-hundred percent of the funds went to organizations to enhance our communities.

Join the 2009 campaign, Celebrating 15 Years of Helping Children Live Their Dreams.

The long-lasting benefits of university employee's commitment to giving and its impact on our surrounding neighbors is exemplified by testimonials from USC Neighborhood Outreach (UNO) funded program personnel, children and families who are currently participating and university faculty/staff donors.
